Albino Grass Carp, which do not grow as big as it's green cousins, are a better choice for a garden or Koi pond. Their albino colouration helps them to stand out too and not camouflage into their surroundings. Grass Carp species are quite different in many ways to the more well-known carps. For a start they have long, torpedo shaped bodies and do not have the usual barbels under the mouth. In the aquatic trade, more often than not, they are bought for their abilities to consume nuisance blanketweed and duckweed in garden and Koi ponds. You will need a big pond for these, and good filtration too as they can be very messy. In a garden/Koi pond, they can grow to around 90cm in length (excluding the tails) although this does depend on habitat size, feeding and general husbandry. Grass Carp are very active, hardy, grow quickly and eat lots of food.
